Shelter Reservations
The City of Papillion has three large shelters that are available to large groups for a rental fee of $60.00 per 8 hour time slots. See descriptions of each shelter below.
Time slots are as follows:
- 6:00 AM-2:00 PM
- 2:00-10:00 PM
To reserve a shelter, reservations can be made in person, over the phone at 402-597-2061, payment is required at the time of reservation.
Shelter Rules and Regulations
- Shelters can be reserved 365 days in advance from the date of the rental, and no less than 10 days from the date of the rental. Exceptions can only be requested in-house.
- If substantial activity is planned that requires the use of additional city resources, facilities and/or infrastructure, the lessee will be referred to the City Clerk for an Event Permit Application.
- No bounce houses or other inflatables are allowed in any City Park.
- Alcoholic beverages are not allowed at any City parks.
- When reserving a shelter in any city park through the Papillion Recreation Department, please be aware that you are only reserving the shelter and not the restroom facilities or the area surrounding the shelter.
- Please have a copy of the permit with you on your scheduled date at the shelter to show proof of authorization of use in the event of a conflict.
- Permit fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.
Other Factors that would require a special event permit.
- One (1) or more vendor/s gather to conduct business on City-owned property for a set date(s) and time(s) for a period of time not to exceed ten (10) consecutive calendar days.
- Have an impact on traffic in the City or use a City street
- Use of amplified sound
- Any advertising or sponsorship activities
- Liquor (requires a separate license)
- Tents
- Rented tables and chairs
- Stages
- Walk/Run events and routes
- If a fee is collected for any part of your event/class/program
Located on the northwest corner of 84th and Lincoln Street. This large shelter provides the following:
- Seating for 150 or more people
- Parking
- Restrooms
- Picnic tables
- Electrical outlets
- Outdoor grills

- Handicap access
Located in the east side of Walnut Creek Lake and Recreation Area. This large shelter provides the following:
- Seating for 80 or more people
- Parking
- Restrooms
- Picnic tables
- Outdoor grills

- 3.1 mile walking path around the lake
- Handicap access
- Great view of the lake
Located at the east end of Halleck Park across from the Lake Halleck. This newly renovated shelter provides the following:
- Seating for 120 or more people
- Parking
- Restrooms
- Picnic tables
- Electrical outlets
- Outdoor grills

- Fishing
- Playground equipment
- Horseshoe pits
- Tennis court
- Basketball courts
- Walking path and handicap access
Renovations
New renovated items in 2016 include:- A new roof
- LED lighting
- All new concrete inside and out
- New picnic tables
- 2 new large grills
- Renovated bathrooms with new tile and floors
First Come First Serve Shelters
Halleck Park - Halleck Park has 2 smaller shelters located in the park off E. Lincoln Street which are first come first serve.
Walnut Creek Lake and Recreation Area - Walnut Creek Recreation Area has 3 smaller shelters located in the park, one on the east side and 2 on the west side of the lake. For more information, call 402-592-8877.
Schwer Park - Amenities include: parking, restrooms, picnic tables, electrical outlets and outdoor grills. Nearby amenities include: fishing pond, playground equipment, water splash park, walking paths and handicap access.
Tara Hills Park - Amenities include: picnic tables and outdoor grills. Nearby amenities include: playground equipment, grills, horseshoe pits, tennis courts, basketball court, sand volleyball courts, walking paths, a bathroom out house and handicap access
Monarch Park - Amenities include: playground equipment, outdoor grills and a t-ball field.
Overland Hills Park - Amenities include: playground equipment, outdoor grills and a t-ball field.
7th Street Park - Amenities include: playground equipment.
Hickory Hills Park - Amenities include: playground equipment, outdoor grills, horseshoe pits and a walking trails.
