What to Look For

As you look around the city and your neighborhood you may see different notices being issued by the code enforcement officer. This section will give you a brief description of the different notices and what they may be issued for.

Types of Notices

The following are various types of notices that the City of Papillion currently uses:

Warning, Do Not Enter, Unsafe to Occupy

This notice is usually posted when a building is unsafe, unsanitary, or unfit for human habitation. Examples of this notice include buildings damaged by fire or storm.

Attention, Yellow Tag

This notice is usually posted as an initial courtesy warning. This notice allows the property owner to correct the violation within a specific time frame and is used as a tracking system for the City. Examples of this notice include:
  • Outdoor storage
  • Unregistered vehicles
  • Weeds / brush / grass taller than 12 inches

Notice of Violation

This notice is usually posted on vacant lots where there is nothing to attach a yellow tag to. Examples include:
  • Garbage / trash / waste
  • Outdoor storage
  • Weeds / brush / grass taller than 12 inches

Notice, Stop Work


This notice is usually posted on construction sites where no permits have been issued or more information is needed. Examples include no permits for pool, fence, deck, or shed.
